NORMIT News - March 2008
The last few months have been very
busy for NORMIT. We held the NORMIT 10th Anniversary Party on the 22nd February
at the Ramada Jarvis Hotel. For those who went, I hope you agree that it was
a very enjoyable night, and for those who did not, well, what can I say? You
missed out! We have been fortunate enough to obtain the proofs of the photos
taken on the night by Phil Scott. If, for one reason or the other, you were
unable to buy yours and would like a copy, please contact one of the NORMIT
team and we can show you the proofs or contact the photographer via the link

Earlier this month the second NORMIT
Members meeting of the year, took place on the 6 March at Norwich Cathedral.
Several very interesting presentations were given by members, as well as an
update on the lessons learnt from the High Tide Storm Surge event of November
2007. Presentations were given by Harvey Hipperson of Applied Satellite Technology
and Michelle Valentine of Disability Forward Ltd. If you would like any more
information regarding their presentations, please contact one of us and we can
direct you to the appropriate person.
In terms of upcoming events, we have several courses running over the next few
months;
NORMIT is also running two further Project Argus events in the near future. Project ARGUS is a National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO) initiative, which explores ways to aid you in preventing, handling and recovering from a terrorist attack. We have run several of these events, jointly with our colleagues at Norfolk Constabulary, and all have been very successful. If you are interested in attending an event, the next ones will be held on 8 May 2008 at the NORMIT Business Continuity Seminar and in Great Yarmouth on the 19 June.
As some of you may be aware NORMIT hold a free Business Continuity Seminar every year, this years is fast approaching and will be held on the 8 May at the UEA Sports Park. The day will consist of several elements, including a number of speakers and the afore mentioned Project Argus. All aspects of the day look to assist you in developing Business Continuity within your organisation and I am sure will be very interesting and of benefit. Details of how to book a place to attend please see the website for more details, www.normit.org/Seminar8May08.htm
Finally, we have
to say a good bye to a well-loved member of the NORMIT team, Simon Holmes will
be leaving NORMIT at the end of March to take up a post at the British Red Cross
as the Emergency Response Manager. I am sure you will all join us wishing him
well and good luck, but I'm sure, as his love for NORMIT is so strong, we will
see him again at a Members meeting or two!
Thank you for your continued support.
