Aim
To work in partnership with business & voluntary sector organisations, and Category 1 & 2 Responders*, to increase resilience in Norfolk.
Objectives1) To promote Business Continuity and Emergency Planning;
2) To provide a platform to enable the sharing of best practice;
3) To encourage organisations to encompass the Civil Contingencies Act 2004 guidance;
4) To provide organisations with specific advice, guidance, training and exercise facilitation as required;
5) To develop mutual aid and support between organisations.
Note: * Category 1 & 2 Responders are those listed within the Civil Contingencies Act (2004) and includes Fire, Police, Ambulance, Maritime and Coastguard Agency, Local Authorities, NHS Trusts, Environment Agency, Health Protection Agency, Utility companies, transport companies, Strategic Health Authority and the Health and Safety Executive.
What is Norfolk Major Incident Team (NORMIT)
NORMIT is an innovative approach to dealing with emergencies and business continuity incidents. Members include some of Norfolk's leading organisations, the emergency services and local authorities.
NORMIT is a non-profit making association of member organisations that pledge to support each other in the development of an emergency management strategy for Norfolk. NORMIT encourages integrated emergency management throughout the community of Norfolk, making it safer by promoting prevention, preparedness, response and recovery programmes. We promote learning from the experience of others and local solutions for local problems.
